Equal to its prominence in these areas, Meruelo Enterprises is recognized for its long dedication to giving back to the communities where it does business, serving as a role model for corporate social responsibility.

Along that path, Founder Alex Meruelo was always looking to “pave the way forward” for others. An entrepreneur and business leader, he also embraced a commitment to champion diversity and inclusion within his Downey, California-based company, as well as a strong sense of equity that steadily broadened into local community support.

SoCal Gas Company

Southern California Gas Company

This project is the relocation of approximately 1,500’ of 36” gas pipeline. The project was located on Benson Ave. overpass of the 60-freeway in Chino, CA. The existing pipeline was installed within the bridge casing and was planned to be installed by a horizontal directional bore (HDD) under the 60-freeway to limit the impact of the freeway. The project included coordinating with Caltrans, different cities and various property/commercial owners as the project progressed through the various stages (i.e., excavation, fabrication, boring under the freeway, installing the pipeline, backfilling, and final paving).

  • Location: Chino, CA
  • Timeline: January 2020 to July 2020
  • Construction Methods: Horizontal Directional Bore
  • Customer: Southern California Gas Company

The San Clemente Project

The San Clemente project includes installing a complete new Traffic Signal system at Camino Vera Cruz & Costa, and a Traffic Signal Modification at Camino Vera Cruz & Calle Sarmentoso which includes new poles, and an upgraded cabinet modification. There are also 3 other existing locations that will have new Controller Cabinet modifications as well, installing the latest ITS Controllers, and new equipment with the latest communication technology to improve traffic flow.

These improvements generate a positive benefit for the community by improving drive times and create a safer environment for San Clemente drivers.
